Pharoahe Monch dropped his third studio album, W.A.R. (We Are Renegades), nearly a year ago … but, has just released a brand new music video for the album’s Jill Scott-assisted cut, “Still Standing.”
In the Terence Nance-directed clip, Monch is in the studio working alongside a live band and Scott on the track, all while recalling an incident on the playground as a youth when a young disease near took his life.
In the powerful video, a young Pharoahe climbs a tree but can’t catch his breath and falls to the ground … and the same time, the clip cuts back to the studio and the rapper suffers from shortness of breath while recording and collapses to the floor.
Despite it all, he’s still standing.
