Russell Simmons has just craved a new notch into his long list of accomplishments. His latest being the appearance of his face on a postage stamp.
The hip-hop impresario is amongst a long list of vegetarian celebrities who animal right organization PETA enlisted for a series of postage stamps.
“The VIPs featured on these unique postage sheets ditched meat from their diets, either out of concern for their health, for the environment, or for animals — and our world would not be the same without their accomplishments,” said PETA on their website. “Although the individuals featured in this series seem very different at first glance, they are united in their respect for animals. ”
The limited edition sheet of stamps feature some of history’s most influential vegetarians — including Simmons, Ellen DeGeneres, “Jackass” star Steve-O, Natalie Portman, Bob Barker, Gandhi, Pamela Anderson, Woody Harrelson, Joan Jett, Leonardo da Vinci, and Morrissey, among others.
“The consumption of animals causes more harm to the environment than all the forms of transportation put together,” Russell Simmons said in a 2008 interview with CNN. “I feel better, I look better, so it’s a big change for me. You have more clarity and I think that all of us want to be more clear. I wanted to look younger and feel better and wanted to be a greater contributor to the good on the planet.”
Each sheet includes 20 stamps. They are currently on sale for $19.99 at PETA’s online store.
