Mountain Dew announced this week a partnership with Mac Miller, where the soda will serve as the sponsor for the rapper’s first headlining US tour, which will feature 35 shows in 32 cities this fall.
The sponsorship will include branded promotional items at every show, and a remix release on the Mountain Dew record label Green Label Sound.
Dubbed an “internet sensation” by Rolling Stone and honored as XXL’s Freshmen Class of 2011, Mac Miller has built up a loyal fan base and won critical acclaim.
“Mac brings such passion to his work — he works directly with fans, adds a ton of creativity and positive energy to all he does — simply put is one of the most exciting artists out there,” said Brett O’Brien, vice president of marketing for Mountain Dew. “He is a great fit for Mountain Dew and Green Label Sound. We’re excited to work with him and share his music with DEW Nation.”
Mac described his excitement working with Mountain Dew, “I’ve seen how Mountain Dew supports young artists. We’ve been trying to work together again for years and when this tour came up it seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
Last March, Green Label Sound also asked Mac to play their official SXSW showcase with Chromeo, The Cool Kids, Classixx and Theophilus London.
This Autumn, fans will have access to an exclusive free remix of The Cool Kids’ “Penny Hardaway” by Mac Miller, via Green Label Sound. For more info, visit GreenLabelSound.com.
The tour is in support of Mac’s debut album, Blue Slide Park, which is out now.
