Miami rapper Flo Rida ran into some legal trouble overseas this week, when police raided his hotel suite in Australia for marijuana.
The 31-year-old rapper (real name: Tramar Dillard) was reportedly busted on Sunday evening (October 23), after his room was raided after authorities received a call that “strong smell of burnt cannabis” was coming from Flo Rida’s room.
Flo was not arrested in the incident. However, police confiscated 16 grams of marijuana, a rolled joint, assorted drug paraphernalia — including scales, Viagra, a bottle of liquid THC, and an illegal high-powered taser.
His personal assistant, Dakari Dalawn Phillips, was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of restricted drugs, and possession of a weapon.
Phillips was reportedly fined $1,800, and released shortly after, due to having no previous offenses.
Flo Rida is in Australia where’s he’s currently touring. On Saturday evening (October 22), he was scheduled to perform at Newcastle’s Fat As Butter festival, but reportedly arrived three hours late, and was turned away by promoters for failing to appear “in a suitable condition to perform.”
Via Facebook, the event’s promoters claimed the rapper threw a “hissy fit,” refusing to show up despite efforts to adhere to his requests.
Flo Rida’s camp has not officially responded to reports. However, the rapper mentioned the missed appearance in a vague Twitter update: “Australian fans, I was looking forward to performing for you but due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to do so last night.”
