This week’s Billboard 200 albums chart is a little slow on new releases in the hip-hop world. Rockers Evanescence return to the rankings with their second #1 album, while Adeles holds steady to the #2 slot with 21.
However, Weezy, J. Cole and The Throne continue to sell units to hold onto the top tier rankings. Murs also makes his debut with Love & Rockets, Vol. 1.
Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV fell from #6 to 9 with 45,000, as it moves past 1.5 million sold; J. Cole’s Cole World: The Sideline Story comes in at #11 with 33,000 sold to put his total at over 305,000 sold to date; and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne sells another 22,000 copies to come in at #13, as it nears the platinum mark.
Outside the top 20, the only debut comes at #200 with Murs’ Love & Rockets, Vol. 1: The Transformation. The project, which dropped via Damon Dash’s BluRoc Records, was produced entirety by Ski Beatz and was recorded on the East Coast. It boasts features from Tabi Bonney, as well as D.I.T.C.’s O.C. and Black Hippy’s Ab-Soul.
