New details have surfaced in the Tuesday (October 18) arrest of Soulja Boy in Georgia.
According to TMZ, the weed, gun, and cash recovered from a search of a vehicle carrying the rapper Tuesday morning was discovered inside a briefcase … which allegedly belongs to him.
Soulja (real name: DeAndre Cortez Way) was riding in an SUV from a car service at around 3:15 AM in Tempe, Georgia, when police pulled over the vehicle because one its lights were out.
When they approached the vehicle, they detected a “strong ordor” of marijuana, prompting a search of the truck … turning up a “substantial amount” of marijuana, a gun, and roughly $70,000 in cash.
Soulja, along with four other men (including the driver), were charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
He and the others have since been released on bond.
Upon his release Tuesday evening, Soulja Boy finally surfaced online, thanks fans for their support via Twitter (@SouljaBoy).
“Thank you and i’m sorry,” he wrote. “love you forever, seeing your letters and you standing outside that jail made me feel the love. my fans r the best.”
He later added that he missed several scheduled interviews in support of his new DVD, “Soulja Boy: The Movie,” which chronicles his rise to fame.
“I missed 10 interviews today for my new movie! to those companies i’m sorry! you can see I had a lil situation. the show must go on,” Soulja wrote.
