In 2007, a teenage Soulja Boy took the music scene by storm with his breakout hit, "Crank That (Soulja Boy)". But, in the months before it hit #1 on Billboard, the young rapper was utilizing the Internet to spread his music ... and built a massive following -- thanks to Youtube and Myspace -- all on his own.

Today, he's one of hip-hop's brightest young superstars. Soulja has made so much money that in 2010, he made Forbes' Hip-Hop Cash Kings list, ranking at #18 earning $7 million in the calendar year prior to the list.

His story is the American dream of going from rags to riches ... and now, fans can watch it in an upcoming film about his life, titled "Soulja Boy: The Movie."

In it, director Peter Spirer focuses on the many fascinating and fractious facets of DeAndre Cortez Way ... and how he went from a young man from Batesville, Mississippi to becoming a household name.

"Soulja Boy: The Movie" drops, via DVD and digitally, on October 18.
