Detroit Pistons’ Ben Wallace Arrested On DUI, Weapons Charges

Ben WallaceVeteran Detroit Pistons center, Ben Wallace, was arrested early Thursday morning (September 29) in a Detroit suburb on drunk driving and weapons charges.

According to the Associated Press, the 37-year-old NBA player was arrested at around 3 a.m. in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, after observed a Cadillac Escalade being driven erratically.

Following the stop, police conducted a field sobriety test, and also found an unloaded pistol in his backpack.

Police say Wallace was given a blood-alcohol test and he was above Michigan’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Further details were unknown at press time.

Wallace was arraigned and released on a $5,000 personal bond. He is due back in court on Monday (October 3).

Wallace was undrafted and signed as a rookie to the Washington Bullets in 1996. He helped the Pistons win the 2004 NBA championship, and is a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
