Compton newcomer, Kendrick Lamar, has gained such a respect amongst his peers … that even legends have co-signed him. Several months into the biggest year of his career — in which he was named an XXL Freshman Class alum — the rapper was overwhelmed by everything at once, during a performance at L.A.’s Music Box venue on Friday (August 19).
As Kendrick headlined a sold-out show, he got choked up, unable to hold back his emotion, when west coast heavyweights, Snoop Dogg, The Game, and Dr. Dre, all co-signed the rapper onstage … and stated that they were passing the torch.
“I’m sittin’ there with Dr. Dre, we watchin’ you rock, and we watchin’ Game pass the torch,” Snoop told the crowd after treated concertgoers to a performance of “I Wanna Rock”.
“You great at what you do. You ain’t good at what you do, you great. You got the torch n****, you better run with that mothaf***er.”
At the end of the event, Kendrick thanked everything. “Tonight was for everybody to understand me,” he concluded. “I’m Kendrick motherf***in’ Lamar. Los Angeles, I love y’all.”
