Killer Mike dropped a brand new music video for the latest single from his new album, PL3DGE, this week. The new clip is for the politically charged single, “Burn,” which dropped in conjunction with the release of Johannes Mehserie, the ex-transit cop accused of the killing of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, who died at an Oakland train station on New Year’s Day in 2009. The slaying sparked outrage in Oakland and the rest of California’s Bay Area.
The event surrounding Grant’s killing — along with the current political, social and economical circumstances — served as an inspiration for the concept of this song and, eventually, the video. The family of Oscar Grant is featured in the clip, along with a fleet of artists that joined Killer Mike in his effort to deliver a strong and powerful message to his audience, including Diddy, Curren$y, The Cool Kids, Mistah Fab, and Filthy Rich who all make cameos.
PL3DGE is out now.
