It was a slow week for urban releases on the Billboard 200. Singer Adele made her way to #1 again for the 10th week, while Lady Gaga came in right behind her at #2.
However, Tech N9ne had a banner week with his latest solo album, All 6’s & 7’s.
The Kansas City-bred indie rap king not only earned his first top 10 album, but also his first top 5 and his best sales week to date. The new album opens at #4 with 56,000 units sold. The set also sits atop the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, his first chart-topper on that list.
All 6’s & 7’s features high-profile guest appearances from the likes of B.o.B, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, T-Pain, and the Deftones, as well as spots from rising stars like Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and others.
Tech’s previous best week came when Killer debuted and peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200 with 36,000 in 2008.
Closing out the top 20 was Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which lands at #17 this week with another 20,000 sold.
That wraps things up this week. To cop any of these new releases, head over to Amazon.com.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending June 12) totaled 5.51 million units, down less than 1% compared to the sum last week (5.52 million) and down 2% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.64 million).
