Many celebrities, athletes, and tastemakers are showing their support incarcerated rap star T.I.
His brand AKOO Clothing recently partnered with Grand Hustle to launch an online campaign, dubbed “Salute The King”, which is aimed at providing fans a creative outlet to express their appreciation for the the Atlanta rapper.
The campaign’s hub is at the website, SaluteTheKing.com, where fans, friends, and everyone in between can record and upload video testimonials for TIP.
Since it’s launch, droves of fans and celebrity friends — such as Rick Ross, Diddy, Nelly, Big Sean, Lex Luger, Killer Mike, Travis Porter, B.o.B, and Hollywood TV actor Hosea Chanchez — have all sent personal video messages in support of T.I.
“We’re pleased to see the overwhelming response of so many people from all over the world,” exclaimed Jeff Belizaire, Director of Marketing for AKOO Clothing. “People love him, not only because he’s a great artist, but because he’s a great humanitarian. Just recently, T.I. sponsored a bus trip for 46 family members to visit 14 fellow inmates.”
SaluteTheKing.com offers a complete timeline of T.I.’s career, free downloads of exclusive content, and a video gallery to browse submissions. The campaign is not only viral, but continues to rollout to retail stores nationally, with participating retailers hosting fan appreciation events and special promotions.
T.I. recently told MTV News: “I’ve been blessed to receive tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately some guys aren’t as fortunate. There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven’t been able to see there loved ones in years. Their families can’t afford the trip so I wanted to help out.”
To further support T.I.’s humanitarian efforts, AKOO Clothing plans to donate clothing to the family members of the inmates.
