Rapper Chiddy Bang broke the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Freestyle Rap” last week, spitting a rhyme for over nine hours.
According to a press release, Chiddy — one half of the Philadelphia duo Chiddy Bang, which also includes producer Xaphoon Jones — rhymed for 9 hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds, beating the previous record of 9 hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds held by Indianapolis rapper M-Eighty (who broke the record in December 2009).
Apparently, Chiddy attempted the feat last Thursday (April 28), leading up the live O Music Awards.
“He used topics and words that were submitted by fans on Twitter, and blew us all away by going non-stop from 11:30 am until the show ended,” MTV TJ Gabi Bregg said of the feat, via MTV.com.
Other rappers such as Green Arrow, MC Supernatural, and D.O. were previous record holders. Supernat was the first to freestyle for over 9 hours, beating the previous record held by Canadian Rapper D.O. who hammered out 8 hours 45 minutes of rock solid freestyle rap.
Chiddy Bang is currently preparing to release a new mixtape, titled Peanut Butter and Swelly.
