Buzzing Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs announced some major news and clarified recent rumors over the weekend, when he and Young Jeezy officially announced that Freddie had become the newest artist on the Atlanta rapper’s CTE imprint.
While performing in Chicago on Saturday night (April 9), Freddie revealed the news … and the boys over at Chicago blog, Fake Shore Drive, got the footage.
“Who you rapping with? … My whole fam, and I’m bout to hurt ya’ll f*** n****s I done cliqued up with the Snowman,” Gibbs spit in a freestyle, prompting cheers from the crowd.
Shortly after, Jeezy joined the rapper onstage to punctuate the announcement and make things official, while presenting him with a CTE chain and medallion.
“His grind paid off. CTE is riding with a real n****,” said Jeezy, later adding: “Welcome Freddie Gibbs to CTE.”
Rumors of the deal have been lingering since early March, when Gibbs hinted at making business moves while in Atlanta in a Twitter update (@FreddieGibbs).
According to KarenCivil.com, Gibbs was rumored to have recorded a slew of material with the Snowman during his time in the ATL, impressing Jeezy so much that he made it a point to sign him to his CTE label.
Things were not official, however, until this weekend. Jeeyz’s CTE label is distributed through Def Jam Records.
On Twitter, the up-and-comer exclaimed: “CTE OR NOTHING.”
