The shocking shooting death of DJ Megatron took place over the weekend, with no real details being released at the time, leaving the hip-hop industry wondering what happened.
Now, new details are surfacing.
According to reports, the 32-year-old radio/TV personality, (real name: Corey McGriff) was allegedly down the street from his Staten Island home early Sunday morning (March 27) buying marijuana and a cigar.
Megatron was reportedly talking on his mobile phone, to a friend, when he was shot at around 2 a.m. While there were no eyewitnesses, three young men are said to have fled the scene.
The DJ was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after 2 a.m., when police and paramedics arrived.
Megatron built his name as a DJ on WQHT Hot 97 in New York City, and then later parlayed his popularity into a regular spot on BET’s “106 & Park.”
He leaves behind three children and a wife.
