Singer D’Angelo appeared in a New York courtroom on Friday (March 11) to enter a plea to a prostitution arrest stemming from one year ago. He pleaded guilty.
According to the Associated Press, the 37-year-old (real name: Michael Archer) pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, and prosecutors noted that D’Angelo “satisfied conditions” regarding the case, but declined to elaborate further.
The singer and his lawyer also declined to comment following the hearing.
D’Angelo was arrested last March, when he picked up a woman during the early morning hours of Saturday (March 6), and allegedly offered her $40 for oral sex. What he didn’t know was that the woman was an undercover police officer.
At the time of his arrest, he was driving around the West Village area, alone, and picked up the woman around 2:30 a.m. He was arrested and charged with solicitation.
At press time, it was unclear what type of sentence D’Angelo would receive. Obviously, a deal was struck, due to the guilty plea, but details were unknown.
