Guru’s Family Drops Line Of Tees Benefiting Late Rapper’s Son

Guru x The X LabelIt’s been nearly a year since the passing of legendary hip-hop icon Guru, and in benefit of his son, the late rapper’s family has just announced the release of a new Guru-inspired line with streetwear brand, X Label.

According to, Guru’s family has inked a partnership with X Label to release the shirts, of which there are three designs three designs — one is already sold out.

The first, a white tee that retails for $26, features art reminiscent of a painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat. On it, Guru’s image is designed in a way that mimics a photocopy and he’s surrounded by early hip-hop graffiti scrawls and the phrase “straight from Brooklyn NYC.”

The other is a black tee that lists the stage names and alter-egos used by Guru through his 25-year carrer as a rapper — including MC Keithy E and Ill Kid.

The tees are the first in a series of tributes and releases that will honor the rapper at the one-year anniversary of his untimely death from cancer at the age of 43.

Additionally, Guru’s former Gangstarr partner, DJ Premier, is set to drop a series of unreleased songs from DJ Premier. The DJ says he has at least five unreleased songs by the group that are ready for public ears.
