Being at the top of the hip-hop game can be glamorous, but it comes with a high price. Guys like Tupac said they felt like a prisoner to their own fame. But what about the women? That's what VH1's upcoming docu-soap series, "Love & Hip Hop", is all about.

The show follows four women, and Mashonda, who all share one common bond: their connection to the hip-hop world ... either through their men or their careers. It will consist of eight parts, capturing the struggles of Chrissy (who's been dating Jim Jones for six years) and Emily (who has a son with Fabolous), both dating rappers and must navigate their relationships while still maintaining a sense of self.

Somaya and Olivia are both recording artists trying to break through in the male-dominated hip-hop industry. And Mashonda, well, her story has played out before everybody -- her ex-husband, Swizz Beatz, left her and is now married to Alicia Keys.

The show is set to air on March 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.
