Tupac Biopic Set To Begin Filming In Late Spring

Tupac ShakurFinally, the anticipated Tupac biopic is reportedly set to begin production in late spring, or early this summer.

The news was announced by Morgan Creek Productions on Thursday (February 10), which also revealed that filming will take place in Los Angeles, New York, Georgia, and Las Vegas.

Actors for the film have yet to be cast.

“The film chronicles the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip-hop artist and actor, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East coast/West coast rap war,” a statement from Morgan Creek read.

The film seems to be moving foward after problems between the Shakur estate and Morgan Creek, who were previously involved in a lawsuit over the rights to the Tupac story. Apparently, the matter was solved and both, Afeni’s Amaru Entertainment and Morgan Creek appear to be working together in a cooperative manner.

In a statement, Afeni expressed her support for the production company.

“I am confident that Morgan Creek will stay true to the common goal we share of depicting Tupac’s life in a way that will allow the world to see the authenticity of his artistry, his hopes, and his life goals,” she said.

Training Day director Antoine Fuqua has signed on to direct the upcoming film, and has said previously that he hopes to cast an unknown to portray Tupac.

Tupac will be produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson, and LT Hutton, while Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, serves as executive producer.

  3. Damn! DaTRUTH1987 is the truth! I thought I was the only one that saw this guy as a fraud.

  4. Tupac is the most overrated Hip Hop artist and brought negativity to the game.

  5. you cant make a movie about pacs life…his life played out like a movie…i think the footage of him, his music and movies are enough

  6. Pac represented life, which is both negative and positive. There is good and bad in all of us. Get over it you hatin bitches.

  7. Tupac brought negativity to the game huh? You seem to forget that what he went through to get that anger in the first place. He did alot of good by challenging the government of the oppression of not just his people but to all who were struggling and noone had the balls to speak out about on a large scale. He was on his way to bringing peace to the bloods and crips, a feat that no government official could fathom. To me this dude ( datruth) is blowing his own smoke up his ass.

  8. I’m very excited for this movie. I hope that their casting will be as good as Notorious because casting the wrong people could ruin this movie.

  9. i agree in some part with truth s comment, however the complexities of the man’s life doesnt make him a fake,he was a walking contradiction but such is every man without the mind of The Christ…
