Back in December 2009, Kid Cudi left social networking sites, closing his official profiles on Twitter and Facebook, vowing to never return. But, as if celebrities didn’t know any better, never say “never.”
Cudi returned to Twitter on Wednesday (January 26), creating his account with the moniker @WizardCud, and proceeded to greet friends and peers, as well as give updates on his projects.
For his first tweet back, the rapper wrote, “uh oh,” and followed with “yes, it’s true. its me, the real wizard.”
Within an hours, Cudi was receiving a massive amount of @replies, and expressed his gratitude.
“Man so much love already, ima go get my sh** together for today and return shortly. spread the word,” he asked of his followers.
When he returned, Cudi revealed that he’s trying to drop his third album which summer. As he previous announced, he’s trying something new in the form of Wizard, apparently the name of his next album, as well as the band with producer Dot da Genius he’s talked about . He clarified any speculation, saying it would be all rock, and “no raps.”
“Pushing for a summer release of the wizard album. i produce and play guitar on everything with my main man @dotdagenius, he’s learnin bass,” Cudi wrote. “wizard is a rock album, no raps, just singing. brand new thing. flavor.”
The Cleveland native also gave an update on the “Maniac” film project he’s been working on with actor Shia LeBeouf and underground rapper Cage. It is expected to drop sometime later this year, but at the present moment, needs to be scored, and edited.
“cage, shia and i really want everything just right,” wrote Cudi.
While Cudi makes it clear, rock is his new focus at the moment, he will be dropping a mixtape, titled A Man Named Scott, in the summer, which will have more of his rap-style songs.
“For all those who f***s with my raps, this is for u since ima be all rocked out with the wizard sh**. also its free! yes!”
