Rihanna and Los Angeles Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp have reportedly broke up, after nearly a year together.
A source tells Us Magazine, the split happened over the last few weeks, because of the singer’s “crazy travel schedule” — which Kemp can’t keep up with.
“Matt’s sick of always following after her like a puppy dog all over the world,” the source told the magazine. “He wants something more normal.”
Both have not publicly commented on the split.
Kemp began dating the 22-year-old singer early this year, or late last year. They were first spotted together in Cabo San Lucas last January, but the relationship wasn’t confirmed until April during an interview on Los Angeles’ KISS radio station.
“He’s my boyfriend,” Rihanna said. “It’s new and it’s fun and it’s nothing too serious. I don’t want anything that’s gonna take up so much of my energy and time right now in a bad way. I just wanna have fun and that’s what it’s about.”
Kemp helped Riri get over an abusive relationship with Chris Brown, which ended with his infamous assault on her in 2008.
Apparently, the breakup wasn’t as difficult to get over though. “It was never as serious as it looked,” the source added. “It was always just [about] having fun.” Plus, Rihanna “basically was just over it.”
