Big Bad 40, pka 40 Glocc, grinding in the streets and the studio, but recently, he’s been taking care of his business in the office … and that includes his Zoo Life Entertainment label, who’s just signed a new artist to its roster.
His newest signee is west coast veteran and acclaimed spitter, Ras Kass.
Two weeks ago, Complex magazine reported Ice Cube’s Top 10 West Coast MC’s and sure enough, new Zoo Life member, Ras Kass was in the line-up.
“I’ve always been a fan of Ras Kass, plus he’s my homey,” 40 says of his new artist. “With me gaining the opportunity to have a real label with distribution, I automatically want artists with good music to come eat with me.”
Details regarding the deal were unknown at press time, including when Rasy’s next project would surface. But, until then, you can pick up his latest collaborative project with DJ Rhettmatic, titled A.D.I.D.A.S., via BandCamp.com.
As far as 4-0, this summer was a big few months for the indie rapper. When MTV Jams began playing 40 Glocc’s “Damn” video, featuring Ray J, radio stations across the country immediately followed. Next, Chicago vet Twista and Yo Gotti came together on the remix of “Damn”, which instantly expanded the single throughout the Midwest and down South. The trio are now scheduled to shoot a remix video this month.
40 also recently completed filming with Snoop Dogg, E-40, Too Short and Xzibit for his “Welcome 2 California” music video.
This month, the Cali rapper will be visit Canada, stopping in Whistler on October 13 at Mojo’s, Vancover on the 14th at Bar None, and Edmonton on the 15th at Empire.
