The Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am ruffled some feathers over the weekend, when he showed up to MTV’s VMAs ceremony in an all-black outfit with his face painted black as well.
But despite the controversy, the rapper/producer is still big with the kids … which is why he’s been tapped by “Sesame Street” for a song.
The iconic children’s TV series enlisted Will.i.am to record an original song for the “Sesame Street” series.
The new track, titled “What I Am,” will debut on the first episode of the show’s 41st season on September 27.
A video for the track hit the Internet this week. Several popular characters from the show — Big Bird, Cookie Monster, the Count, Bert and Ernie — make guest appearances in the clip.
In addition to the track, Will.i.am. will appear on the September 28th episode of “Sesame Street,” titled “The Happy Scientists,” alongside with comedian Wanda Sykes.
