Two of hip-hop’s biggest stars — Jay-Z and Eminem — came together for a massive concert at Yankees Stadium on Monday night (September 13), following their first show in Detroit at Comerica Park last week.
Being that it was Jay’s home turf, he made sure he knocked it out the park and he did, bringing out an all-star line-up for friends to help him wow the New York crowd. During the hip-hop superstar’s portion of the show, he brought out the likes of Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Swizz Beatz, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and his wife Beyoncé.
And, in the audience, Jay showed his stature too — celebrities like LeBron James, Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Naomi Campbell were all throwing up the Roc.
Hov’s set consisted of Drake hitting fans with “Miss Me” and “Light Up”, while Chris Martin assisted on “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love),” “Most Kings,” and “Viva La Vida.”
Then, soon after Kanye took the stage, decked out in a red suit and his massive Horus chain, for “Run This Town” and his “Power (Remix),” with Nicki Minaj joining the party for “Monster.”
Eminem even joined Jay for their joint song “Renegade.” Later, finally Jay closed out the show alongside with his wife Beyonce, performing “Young Forever.”
“This is historic: They ain’t never gonna be another night like tonight,” Jay said.
It was definitely Hov’s evening, but Eminem did his thing as well — he opened the show by acknowledging exactly where he was at.
“Do not think that I don’t know where I’m at right now,” the Detroit rapper told the audience at the sold-out concert. “I’m also honored to be on this f***in’ stage in the Bronx, the f***in’ birthplace of hip-hop.”
Em opened with “Won’t Back Down”, from his latest smash CD, Recovery. Then set the tone for the evening bringing out his own list of heavyweights to help him, including B.o.B, D12, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre himself.
It was definitely a show a hip-hop would not want to miss. Tuesday night (September 14), the pair will do it one more time, so you guys got one more chance.
