Late last month, rapper Charles Hamilton reportedly checked into a New York mental hospital, due to the high stress he’s gone through from being in the music biz.
Now, last week, a source told Vibe.com that the young rapper is home. He was discharged from a center in Long Beach, California after a week-long stay.
Initial reports said he checked into New York Presbyterian Mental Hospital, but apparently, he was later transferred to Long Beach Medical Center.
After a short stay, he was later discharged.
At the time of his transfer, Hamilton called into Tony Touch’s show on Sirius Radio where he explained how the mental institution is a natural extension of the music industry.
“In this hospital I can really be my natural self,” Hamilton said. “Just like I am in the industry but everyone is so content with putting up this fake imagery that you feel like being yourself ruins your image. Everything I’ve done in this industry, whether it was based on outside speculation, peer pressure, or the outside feeling I was being extorted or the outside feeling I was buggin out, I remained true to me.”
At press time, Hamilton hadn’t further commented on the situation.
