After serving less than half of a 90-day jail sentence, rapper DMX was released from a Los Angeles jail this week.
According to reports, the Yonkers native was freed Thursday afternoon (August 12) after serving just 18 days behind bars for a probation violation, stemming from a 2002 reckless driving conviction.
X (real name: Earl Simmons) turned himself to authorities in Los Angeles in late July shortly after being released from an Arizona prison where he had just served six months for violating parole with substance abuse.
At the time, X said he was ready to put his legal problems behind him, and focus on the future.
X’s publicist, Cassandra Cousineau, told BallerStatus.com, that the rapper “has completed a drug rehabilitation program and is committed to resolving all legal issues and focusing on his sobriety.”
“From this day forward, you will see X as you have never seen him before. His business has become his number one priority,” X’s rep, Nakia Walker, added.
