Rap superstar Jay-Z is taking a page outta Dr. Dre’s book: get into the headphone game.
While Dre’s linked in with Monster Cable for his Beats By Dre line, Jay’s company Roc Nation is partnering with Skullcandy for his own line of high quality headphones.
The first pair of headphones, via the new venture, will be the Roc Nation Aviator. They are a throwback styled pair made from “premium materials previously only seen in the realm of high-fashion eyewear,” their description reads.
“Our passion is creating amazing music,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “We’re dedicated to delivering the best in live performances. Now with the Roc Nation/Skullcandy partnership, we’re offering the best way for people to experience the soundtrack of their lives.”
The Aviator headphones are available in black, brown, or white. And, are designed with “superior metals”, polycarbonate headphones cups, plush memory foam ear cushions, and other premium materials.
They boast top of the line technology that will increase clarity for amplified sonic enjoyment.
“This partnership is an incredible opportunity for Skullcandy,” added Skullcandy CEO Rick Alden. “By teaming up with Roc Nation on both the creative and marketing direction of these products, we are able to set the bar at a new high — challenging the future quality of what emerges in the industry from here on out.”
Roc Nation Aviator headphones hit stores this June. According to a spokesperson for the company, the headphones will retail for $149.
