This summer, rap superstars Eminem and Jay-Z will team up for a pair of concerts at each of their hometown baseball team’s stadiums.
Em will invite Jay into Detroit on September 2nd to perform at the Detroit Tiger’s Comerica Park, which they announced during the second game of a Detroit Tigers-New York Yankees doubleheader at the stadium.
11 days later, Eminem returns the favor by heading to New York to play at Yankees stadium alongside Jay on September 13th.
Both rappers, each sporting his respective team’s logo, made the announcement live on Fox Sports Detroit during the top of the fourth inning, following an announcement on ESPN during the game’s national broadcast.
Jay and Em teamed up back in 2001 for the track “Renegade”, off Jay’s album The Blueprint. Most recently, they paired up again in 2009 for the launch of “DJ Hero.” The two rappers performed “Renegade” live for the first time at the “DJ Hero” launch party in Los Angeles.
Em teases his Twitter followers (@Eminem) the day before, writing: “The announcement is tomorrow. It’s gonna be a big ‘hit.’ ”
The news comes just as Eminem’s latest single, “Not Afraid,” tops the Billboard singles charts. Its the first from his upcoming new album, Recovery.
