Hip-hop mogul Diddy recently announced that Macy’s, the nation’s largest department store chain, will be the exclusive distributor of his popular Sean John clothing brand.
During a press conference, Diddy (real name: Sean Combs) said that the brand has generated over $1 billion dollars in business with Macy’s “and we plan to do a couple billion more.”
Via the renewed partnership, Sean John will be distributed at over 400 Macy’s locations throughout the nation, and then, the line will be rolling into other locations over the next year.
Additionally, the department store chain will build exclusive Sean John shops at key locations, with the brand retaining creative control over all display designs.
In an interview with the New York Post, Diddy spoke about his experience working at Macy’s as a teen.
“I got my start at Macy’s when I was 16, selling shirts and ties. To come full circle like this is a dream come true,” he said.
Diddy launched the Sean John brand in 1998, and over the years, it’s become a multi-million dollar-a-year brand.
