Ella Ann since shootingAfter seven months, The Bangz's Ella Ann is on her way to recovery after being caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shoot in Los Angeles, even though doctors initially didn't think there was any hope.

Last month, we spoke to the rapper/singer's longtime boyfriend and producer KC, who detailed the September 2009 night Ella Ann was shot and gave us an update on her condition.

We found out she is undergoing both physical and speech therapy. When she was shot, she lost so much blood that suffered a severe stroke and laid in a coma for 23 days, which caused the left side of her body to be paralyzed.

KC admitted to us that things were touch-and-go at first.

"It went from the doctors not thinking she was gonna live through lunch; to the doctors saying she'd live, but she'd be a vegetable; to the doctors saying she'd probably regain most of her motor skills, but probably wouldn't remember anything," KC told BallerStatus.com last month. "But here we are, literally the seven-month anniversary (September 14th), she's talking, she's eating, she's doing things on her own, she's getting her mobility back, she's regaining sensation and movement of the left side of her body ... she's just doing wonderful man."

Now, she's re-learning basic motor functions and undergoing speech therapy.

The folks over at HoneyMag.com just debuted some footage of Ella during the process. As you can see from the video below, she's definitely making progress.

While she's moving along quickly in road to recovery, she has a long way to go. Unfortunately, Ella Ann turns 21 on May 11th, and that's when she will lose her current health care aid. Without the continued physical therapy and aggressive rehabilitation work, Ella's progress will be stunted.

Ella's friends and family are seeking donations to help with her medical costs. "We are currently seeking donations to help with the medical costs necessary for her to recover. Ella is in the fight of her life pursuing a full recovery," said a statement on the "Ella's Fight" website.

Ella Ann is one half of the girl duo known as The Bangz. They hail from Los Angeles and consist of Jenice Portlock (aka Sabi) and Korttney Elliott (aka Ella Ann), both of whom rose outta of the city's bubbling jerk movement. Prior to Ella's shooting, they had been enjoying success with their single, "Boys With Tattoos (We Jerkin)," which had been amassing major airplay thanks to KPWR-FM (Power 106), and DJ Felli Fel who jumped immediately on the song.

The duo's latest single is "First Girl On the Moon," off their upcoming Girl Riot EP. A music video was recently filmed for the song, which Ella makes a small appearance in, her first since the shooting. The photo above is from the set of the music video, while its final cut is below:
