Philly based radio station 96.1 Kiss FM recently announced over the airwaves that Eminem will be releasing the first single from his upcoming album “Recovery” this Friday (April 30).
The track is titled “Not Afraid”.
Although details about who produced the track are unclear, producer Jim Jonsin, who has been working with the rapper on the album, told MTV News: “He was open to ideas.”
“He was real respectful to my craft. He let me do what I do,” said Jonsin. “He asked me ideas on some of the lyrics. We had ideas for lyric changes. Certain words may or may not work on radio. We talked about that. He had a setup outside of the room to do production, but I’d rather be in the room where he was at, and he was cool with that. And I knocked out a couple of joints in there while he was in there with me. He was pretty open and he let me do my thing. He did his thing. It was a pretty good experience.”
Eminem hinted at the release of the single on his Twitter page (@Eminem) by posting the words: “I’m ‘Not Afraid.’ ”
Eminem originally planned to release Relapse 2 last year, a follow-up to his comeback album Relapse. But, he changed the concept and title to Recovery, making the announcement over a week ago.
Besides Jim Jonsin, Recovery will feature production from DJ Khalil, Just Blaze and Boi-1da, and is slated for June 22.
