Uh oh … Eminem revealed some upsetting news on his Twitter page late Tuesday evening (April 13) … the news being that Relapse 2 is not coming?
In a tweet, the Detroit rapper killed fans’ hopes of the highly anticipated release saying, “There is no Relapse 2” in a tweet (@Eminem).
Late last month, Em had fans excited when he tweeted that “Some big news is coming. Soon.”
The five-word Twitter update fueled speculation about a possible announce of Relapse 2, which was due in late 2009, but got pushed back.
Update: It’s not all bad though. Em revealed Wednesday morning (April 14) that a new album is coming, it just won’t be the original Relapse 2 he planned for.
In a press release posted at Eminem.com, the rapper revealed that he has scrapped the original album and his upcoming seventh studio album is called Recovery.
“I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year,” said Eminem. “But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”
The update said that the new album wll feature production from a list of first-time collaborators, including DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da, among others.
It is due in stores June 22nd.
