Nicki Minaj was slated to serve as an opening act for Rihanna’s “Last Girl On Earth” tour, which was slated to kick off in the summer. However, after dates for the tour were announced this week, Nicki revealed Wednesday (April 7) that she will be pulling out.
The rapper said that while he was looking forward to performing across the country, she’d rather use to time to finish her debut album
“Barbz I’m sorry 2 say I will not be going out on RiRi’s tour. I’ve decided 2 use that time 4 the completion of my album. Hope u understand,” Minaj tweeted (@NickiMinaj) Wednesday. “Thanks to Rihanna 4 being a sweetheart and extending this great opportunity 2 me. Support the show! Luv, HB”
Nicki’s first single, “Massive Attack,” has been getting a lot of attention online, so she plans to get her album finished to take advantage of her buzz.
At press time, Rihanna and Ke$ha were still set to hit the road on July 2, with the first stop in Seattle.
There will be 2 stops on Rihanna’s tour, including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Toronto. Tickets go on sale on Friday (April 9) at LiveNation.com.
