Duck Down Music announced this week that they’ve partnered with video game publisher 2K Sports for the launch of a contest where aspiring artists will have the chance to get their song include on NBA 2K11.
The contest included two phases. In early March, it was for producers. Aspiring producers had two weeks to create a sample-free instrumental, and it received an overwhelming response with over 500 submissions.
Reps from Duck Down and 2K reviewed them, and selected 10 finalists, and then, the general public voted for a winner.
The winner is: Bay Root Productions, from San Antonio, TX.
The second phase, for MCs, starts Tuesday (April 6). Aspiring MCs will have four weeks to submit one clean track using Bay Root’s instrumental for a chance to appear on NBA 2K11’s official soundtrack.
Here’s how to enter:
From here, reps from Duck Down and 2K will pick 10 finalists, which will posted on XXLMag.com for fans to vote.
Then, the winner will be announced on May 11th.
The grand prize winners of the contest, which will consist of one producer and one MC, will have their song placed in the music soundtrack for NBA 2K11. Additionally, each winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City, where they will have the special opportunity to perform the song live at Duck Down’s CMJ Showcase in October 2010.
