The Philadelphia Eagles activated QB Michael Vick to the team’s roster on this week, allowing him to practice with the rest of the team a week before he is to become eligible to play.
This news wasn’t a surprise, but who they let go to make room was. The team decided to release wide receiver Hank Baskett to make room for Vick.
If you aren’t familiar with Baskett, he is the husband of Playboy reality star, Kendra Wilkinson. The couple tied the knot back in June. He is also a hard working player, who could see more playing time with another club.
In 2008, he had his best season with 33 catches for 440 yards, and ran for three TDs, including a 90-yard reception against the Rams.
As far as Vick, he played in the last two pre-season games, but his suspension rules him out of NFL action until the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs on September 27.
Until then, they are under pressure with a shortage of quarterbacks, because starting quarterback Donovan McNabb suffered a fractured rib in the opening day win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (September 13).
So, it looks like Kevin Kolb will be starting, because he’s their only available QB. But, free agent quarterback Jeff Garcia was signed as a back-up on a one-year deal on Monday.
