Earlier this week, reports emerged about a raid of an apartment in Yonkers, New York, belonging to rapper Jadakiss. In that raid, heroin and marijuana were found.
While police said the rapper (real name: Jason Phillips) was not at the apartment at the time and two other men were arrested instead, Jada has issued a statement denying any involvement in the drug operation.
“What happened on Saturday was an unfortunate situation, but one in which I have no involvement in,” Jadakiss said in his statement. “Since the release of my recent album The Last Kiss, I have been on the road touring and promoting my project. I am focused on my performance schedule and career.”
On Friday (August 21), police arrested the residents of the apartment, Alberto Lajara and Gabriel R. Henriquez, and charged the men with possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, assault and obstruction of governmental administration.
The day following the arrest, authorities obtained a search warrant, and raided their apartment, seizing 5 grams of heroin, 6.5 pounds of marijuana and $40,000 in cash.
The property was leased under Jadakiss’ name.
