After almost seven years of dating and on the heels of the passing of her brother Michael, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have reportedly called it quits.
A source told Us Weekly that Dupri says the relationship is over. “His friends are telling people it’s over.”
“They have been moving in different directions for a while,” the unnamed source continued.
Dupri was noticeably absent from Michael Jackson’s public memorial earlier this month.
He produced several of Jackson’s music from her last two albums — 20 Y.O. and Discipline. One friend says mixing work with their personal lives contributed to their drifting apart.
“You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure,” a friend of the former couple told the mag. “Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate.”
Aside from the break-up, Janet is still grieving over the death of her brother, and helping take care of his kids.
