There’s some cattiness going on within the Pussycat Dolls group, reportedly over how the label has been marketing their latest singles, “Jai Ho” and “Hush Hush”.
Both songs have been released under the name “Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger”, instead of the usual “Pussycat Dolls.” This is irking some of the other members, specifically Melody Thornton.
During a concert in Phoenix this weekend, Thornton called attention to frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger’s “featured” status on the group’s latest singles.
“Thank you so much for supporting me — even if I’m not featured, you know what I’m saying?” Thornton shouted in front of a packed audience.
She even went on to tell the audience: “You can do anything you want to do. Don’t give up on your dreams and don’t let anyone stop you — ever!”
According to the New York Daily News, the comments angered Scherzinger, who reportedly sheered at Thornton after the remarks.
To date, the Pussycat Dolls haven’t addressed, publicly, why Scherzinger has received special attention, leading some to think she may be leaving the group to pursue a solo career.
Scherzinger, however, is quick to point out she’s always been the head of the group. She tells the Chicago Tribune in a recent interview that “I was always the leader of the group.”
As far as her planned solo record, she says it will be released “one of these days.”
