The Miami based company, Rakontur, are set to release the sequel to the 2006 documentary about the Miami cocaine trade, “Cocaine Cowboys.”
The upcoming second installment is called “Cocaine Cowboys 2: Hustlin’ with the Godmother,” and set to hit stores on DVD this summer.
The filmmakers will take you through the inner-city streets of a 1991 Oakland, California, which follows the Godmother from the original film, otherwise known as the famed female cocaine dealer Griselda Blanco.
The documentary-style film will tell the story of an aspiring coke dealer named Charles Cosby, who is introduced to the trade after writing fan letters to Blanco while she’s incarcerated in federal prison. Cosby, after just six months, becomes Blanco’s lover and head of her $40 million-a-year cocaine empire, but runs into a few roadblocks when he sees the other side of the Godmother.
Before hitting shelves, Rakontur will be premiering the film at the CineVegas Film Festival on June 20th. Tickets are on sale now at BSide.com.
“Cocaine Cowboys 2: Hustlin’ with the Godmother,” directed by Billy Corben, hits stores on July 29.
