Remy Ma appeared in court on Tuesday morning (May 13) to face sentencing for the shooting of a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub last year.
According to the Associated Press, the 26-year-old rapper (real name: Remy Smith) was handed down an eight year sentence for charges of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion.
She was facing up to 25 years, and was reportedly teary-eyed as she faced the music.
Despite the sentence, Remy maintains that the July 2007 shooting was an accident, and is planning to appeal the decision.
In other news, after the rapper and fiancé Papoose had their wedding canceled on Monday (May 12), due to Pap trying to sneak in a key to handcuffs, the pair still plans to wed.
