Gnarls Barkley frontman, Cee-Lo, recently teamed up with actor/rocker Jack Black for the first single from the “Kung Fu Panda” soundtrack, an animated comedy starring the voice of Black.
The pair remade the classic “Kung Fu Fighting” song, of course, with all brand new lyrics, and production by The Underdogs. It follows the original 1974 track that hit no. 1 both in the U.S. and U.S.
“A fan of the song first, it was inspiring and an honor to have the opportunity to re-introduce the record to a brand new audience sprinkled with a little of me on top,” said Cee-Lo.
The single will be available on iTunes on May 27 and everywhere else, while the full soundtrack will be released via Interscope on June 3.

“Kung Fu Panda,” which features the voices of Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, and Ian McShane, tells the tale of a lazy, irreverent slacker panda, Po (voiced by Black), who must somehow become a kung fu master in order to save the Valley of Peace from a villainous snow leopard, Tai Lung. In the legendary world of ancient China, our unlikely hero enters the rigid world of kung fu and turns it upside down. Po ultimately becomes a kung fu hero by learning that if he believes in himself, he can do anything.
The film hits theatres June 6.
