Rapper DMX was arrested at his Arizona home on Tuesday (May 6) after he was caught on camera speeding down a Phoenix freeway at 114 mph … in January.
According to Reuters, the rapper (real name: Earl Simmons) was taken into custody without incident Tuesday afternoon, booked into jail, stayed overnight, and released on bond Wednesday (May 7).
37-year-old DMX is accused of racing on the highway on January 21, and charged with reckless driving, two counts of endangerment, three counts of speeding and driving on a suspended license.
“Criminal speeding endangers the lives of everyone on the road,” Roger Vanderpool, state Department of Public Safety director, said in a statement. “Mr. Simmons wasn’t singled out because of his notoriety.”
Highway cameras caught X racing at speeds over 100mph in his 1966 Chevrolet Nova II. The speed limit in the area is 65 mph.
