Following a successful third Paid Dues festival in March, Murs and Guerilla went back in, added some new dates and are preparing to hit the road for four more dates.
The third event was a sold out event in San Bernardino, California, but now will expand to New York, Ft.Lauderdale, Denver and San Francisco this June.
Murs says the festival “supports a fan base of a vibrant scene of underground hip-hop artists all on one platform.” He is right. With artists such as Bootcamp Clik, Little Brother and Kool Keith on the bill for its third show, proves the statement true.
For the four new dates, however, Buckshot of the Boot Camp Clik, 9th Wonder, Kidz In The Hall and Braille have all signed onto the festival series. While Little Brother, Hieroglyphics, and Yak Ballz are also on board, with Murs and 9th to host.
Additionally, select dates will include Rakim, De La Soul, Gza, Blackalicious, Supernatural & Scratch and Kidz in the Hall.
“We are very proud to continue this partnership with Murs by expanding the Paid Dues independent hip-hop platform to a festival series in select cities,” said Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union. “We are introducing Paid Dues as a festival series with acts whom we feel champion the independent hip-hop scene. Rakim and De La Soul not only pioneered the hip hop movement, they epitomized the DIY spirit long before the trend became common.”
Murs adds, “It’s summer. It’s hip-hop. It’s going to be a good time.”
