Supermodel Naomi Campbell was hospitalized in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday (February 24) for the removal of a small cyst, her publicist told the Associated Press Tuesday (February 26).
The 37-year-old British supermodel, who frequents Brazil quite often, was in the country to celebrate Carnival in the northeastern city of Salvador.
She was treated at Sirio Libanes Hospital, where the cyst was removed and she is resting.
“Naomi Campbell was admitted to the hospital last night to have a small cyst removed,” Jeff Raymond, Campbell’s publicist, said in a statement. “Following the successful procedure, she is now resting and is looking forward to getting back to work. She would like to thank the doctors who have kindly looked after her.”
Although the emergency abdominal surgery was successful, no one is revealing exactly what it was or how serious.
“I cannot reveal what Naomi had, nor how serious her condition was, but I can say I operated on her yesterday and that she is completely cured,” gynecologist Jose Aristodemo Pinotti told the Agencia Estado news service.
The hospital told the AP that David Uip, one of Brazil’s leading experts in the treatment of infectious diseases, was also caring for Campbell.
