Will.i.am To Make Acting Debut In ‘Wolverine’ Film

Black Eyed Peas frontman, Will.i.am, is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming "X-Men" spin-off "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

According to Reuters, the rapper will play alongside starring actor Hugh Jackman in the film which takes place 17 years before the first three "X-Men" films.

Will.i.am (real name: William Adams) will play Wraith, a mutant with the power to turn himself translucent.

Others onboard include Danny Huston, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins, while Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi") is directing.

Huston is playing Stryker, the military general who subjected Wolverine to the experiment that laced his bones with an unbreakable metal called adamantium. Kitsch is playing Gambit, a Cajun thief whose powers include the manipulation of kinetic energy, which allows him to use card-throwing to deadly effect. And Collins will play Kayla Silverfox, Wolverine's lover and a member of Team X, a superpowered covert ops team.

Actor Liev Schreiber has been cast as Victor Creed, a mutant with bestial superpowers who also is known as Sabretooth, Wolverine's arch-enemy.

The film is scheduled to begin this month in New Zealand before heading to Australia. Reuters reports that they also place to shoot in New Orleans.

The Fox film isn't expected in theaters until May 1, 2009.
