After successful albums in the past year from DJ Khaled and most recently DJ Drama, labels have been scrambling to scoop up DJs with huge followings. New York has Funkmaster Flex and DJ Kay Slay among others, Miami has Khaled and Los Angeles has Felli Fel.
The Los Angeles DJ announced Tuesday (December 11) that he has officially inked a record deal with So So Def, where he will release his major label album through Def Jam sometime next year.
So far, there is no title for the album, but the first buzz single is “Let’s Get Buck In Here,” feature Ludacris, Akon, Diddy and Lil Jon.
Felli Fel is the no. 1 DJ on the West Coast with over 1.6 million listeners per day on the city’s highest rated hip-hop station Power 106. He is also the highest rated in his time slot for the past three years.
As far as selling music, he has sold over 120,000 digital single independently and will now move on to new heights with the announced deal.
Listeners in Los Angeles can catch him over the airwaves on Power 106 during weeknights from 7 p.m. to midnight.
