Kanye West’s Mother, Dr. Donda West, died early Sunday (November 11), suddenly, according to Hot 97’s Miss Info. The cause of her death is currently unknown, but she was reportedly in Los Angeles when she died. She was only 58 years old.
Her son, rapper Kanye West, however, was in London when he received the news. He is currently on his way back to the U.S.
The rapper had a close relationship with his mother. She is a retired English teacher who worked as the Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University before retiring to become her son’s manager.
Earlier this year, she released a book called Raising Kanye, which chronicled her journey of raising her son.
According to Essence magazine, Donda was the CEO of West Brands, LLC at the time of her death, and was the chair of the Kanye West Foundation.
