Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Diddy, Kanye West, T.I. Make History During New York’s Screamfest

With close to 20,000 people packed into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night (August 22), the ’07 Screamfest made music history — bringing some of today’s biggest onstage for the New York City tour stop.

The show began like most other Screamfest tour stops, with headliners Ciara and T.I. intertwining their sets — Ciara came out first, did half her show and left, then T.I. came out after for half his show, which then led into both of them performing their second halves respectively.

But during the second half, 50 Cent emerged onstage for Ciara’s single, “Can’t Leave Him Alone.” After their duet, Ciara asked 50 to perform one of his songs and he obilged with “I Get Money” where 50 — who also brought out Lloyd Banks, Mobb Deep, and Tony Yayo — tore down the stage.

During T.I.’s second half, he broke into a long list of his hits including “Top Back,” “24’s,” “Why You Wanna,” “Rubber Band Man” and “Bring Em Out” before Jay-Z surprised concertgoers by joining the ATL native onstage for “Watch What You Say.”

That wasn’t the last of the surprises though. When Kanye West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” started to bellow from the speakers, the Chi-Town native walked slowly from the runway to the main stage, who was joined by 50 Cent and Diddy (both of which were dancing and enjoying themselves as ‘Ye performed his single).

Following Ye’s performance was Jay-Z again, who ended with “Encore.” But T.I. and Ciara ended the night with “What You Know?” and “Big Things Poppin’.”

The Screamfest tour is now in its sixth installment. Throughout its history, the concert series has entertained over one million fans.
