Randy Hubbard Parker, son of rapper KRS-One and his wife, Simone G. Parker, was found dead in his Atlanta apartment over the weekend in an apparent suicide. He was only 23.
According to his mother, Randy’s death was caused by “severe depression,” which he had suffered for quite some time.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office said Parker died on Friday (July 6) from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The family is planning a private memorial for Randy in Florida on July 18, which would have been his 24th birthday. They are also planning another memorial in New York in August.
Although KRS-One was on tour overseas with Marley Marl, the following statement was released from a spokesperson for the couple: “KRS-One and Simone Parker send their sincere appreciation to everyone who has already responded to the tragic news.”
