Lil Fizz, of the multi-platinum selling group B2K, is finally gearing for the release of his solo debut, entitled PayDay. The new album will be released through Cudda Love’s Fo’ Reel Entertainment, and for Fizz, it’s the first time, he’s enjoyed creative freedom.

“I’m so excited and proud about this album,” said Fizz. “Now I can be me. I’m with people who give me freedom and creative control.”

“Beds,” featuring Ray J, is the first single off the album, in which Fizz displays his rapping ability. A video was shot at a Beverly Hills residence recently and should be services to outlets soon.

Although the singer/rapper is confident that “Beds” will be the club banger for the summer, he is planning to hit fans with back-to-back summer anthems and the next will be “Car Wash.”

“[‘Car Wash’] is about LA’s car culture. On Friday and Saturday, it’s a ritual for everyone to go and get their car washed and make it look sharp. It’s like a party; it’s crazy. The music is bumping, the cars are all shiny and everybody’s flossin’ on Slauson. ‘Car Wash’ is for everybody, but it’s gonna really make Cali happy.”

Lil Fizz began his career as 1/4 of the R&B boy band B2K. As a group, they their self-titled album in 2002, which was certified double platinum and spawned hit singles such as “Uh Huh,” “Gots Ta Be,” and “Why I Love You.” Their sophomore release (and final) studio album, Pandemonium!, dropped late in 2002 and contained the no. 1 smash “Bump, Bump, Bump” featuring Diddy, as well as “Girlfriend,” “Bump That,” “Everything,” and “What A Girl Wants.”

By 2004, B2K broke up and two of the members, Omarion and Lil Fizz, secured solo deals; yet because of label issues, Lil Fizz’s Epic Records debut was put on hold. Despite the setback, Fizz said it helped him grow.

“I feel everything is learning process,” he explains. “All of the issues I had with my Epic deal prepared me mentally, physically and spiritually for this album.”

PayDay is slated for release July 17.

Additionally, fans can catch Lil Fizz as the opening act for R&B group Pretty Ricky, on their West Coast Summer concert tour.
